MEGHAN MITCH
PRESIDENT
Hello everyone! My name is Meghan Mitch and I'm the proud mom of four boys (two graduates and two attending), and have been volunteering with Whittier for the last two years. I love being part of the school community, getting to know the kids and seeing their excitement during events like the book fair and Mrs. Claus's Market. It is extremely rewarding and I'm honored to be a part of the children's journey.
Outside of school, you can catch me on the field as a baseball coach for W.H.A.A (don't forget to sign up!), or walking dogs around the neighborhood for my part-time job.
SHANNON KIMACK
VICE PRESIDENT
My name is Shannon Kimack and I'm a mom of three, with two currently attending Whittier (1st and 3rd grade) with a future Kindergartener in the next couple years.
I have been an active volunteer in the PTO for the past three years, and can't wait to take on this role. I'll be your contact for all things related to fundraising, so feel free to chat with me at school pick-up or any of the events!
JENNY GADD
TREASURER
Jenny Gadd is a recently retired teacher from Whittier, where she held many roles for 8 years. She spent all of her teaching career at schools in the south section of the city.
She has been our treasurer for the last four years, and is now a regular volunteer at the school. She loves the children of Whittier!
Outside of school, you can catch her reading, crafting or in her garden!
MRS. DAVIS
SECRETARY
Mrs. Davis has been a teacher at Pittsburgh Whittier for 18 years. In previous years she served as the F.A.C.E coordinator, planning activities for parent engagement, as well as a member of the PTO and PSCC. Mrs. Davis believes in building a strong partnership between the school and the community. When not at school she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
ADVISOR
PTO OPERATIONS
Theresa Cammerata is the past president for the Whittier PTO and will be a consultant to the new leaders.
She held her presidency for 4 years and is excited to see what the new team brings to the table.
Her daughter is a recent graduate of Whittier and left with happy tears.
When she's not volunteering, you can find her gardening, walking her dog or outside using her smoker to make some darn good BBQ.
MR. VOLCHKO
Yearbook Advisor
Mr. Volchko has been a teacher at Pittsburgh Whittier for 16 years. Mr. Volchko teaches art to all of our students, as well as science for all of the 2nd-5th graders. He also is the technology liaison for Whittier which means Mr. Volchko helps to troubleshoot computer and iPad issues that students and teachers experience. Mr. Volchko loves to spend time with his wife and daughter and their two cats when he’s not at school.
MRS. BERTONASCHI
Box Tops Coordinator
Mrs. Bertonaschi has been a teacher at Whittier for 8 years. She is currently 3rd grade Math, Social Studies and cursive teacher, and is our Box Tops representative.
Mrs. B is also the testing coordinator which puts her in charge of organizing all assessments including PSSAs. When not at school, she loves spending time with her husband, daughter and son, reading and completing the NYT daily word games. Mrs. B is so excited for this school year!
